Family moments revisited

Every time I look at this photo I smile. It's my nephews children about two years ago when we all were in Fort Lauderdale. It was just one of those playful moments that might have been missed or later in years forgotten if I hadn't caught it with the click of my camera. It's moments like these that make me appreciate family, life and the talent that I've been blessed with. Sometimes I take it for granted, well, not granted, but it's just a part of who I am. Other people look at my photos and seem in awe. Maybe that's the way I feel when I look at the work of other photographers who I'm a fan of.
The other two photos, well, same image, different processing, are of my nephew and his wife, Laurie. They have a third child now that I haven't seen and he's nearing a year old this fall! They sure grow up fast. I'm trying to organize my images and create a family library of books, but it takes a lot of time. Plus, I play too much on the computer when I sit down. Ha!
I posted these because I talked to my sister on the phone last night. Haven't seen her since this visit and I'm going to try and get her started back on the computer so we can stay in contact more.

She loves peaches, fresh only!

She doesn't like baby food in a jar type peaches, but she wasted no time in going for the fresh ones during a photo shoot! Love this baby! Doesn't hurt she's my granddaughter!

Smashed the donut

Entered this in the BetterPhoto contest today. It's one of my favorite places online but I haven't been 'hanging out over there' much, so I'm renewing my interest. I've got some editor's pick choices on some of my entries and even a couple placings. So we will see what happens with this one. Wish me luck!

Mya and the donut

First, let me say, the donut addition was so not my idea! It was her mom's. My poor grandchild will have a complex. Wearing a onesie that has F.B.I. and an impromptu photo shoot holding a donut. Ack! The F.B.I. is fat, bald and innocent. She's not bald! So add that to the complex that I hope we can avoid in later years.
All in all, it was fun. Just seeing the look on her face when the donut made her hand sticky was worth it. Yesterday it was the cheese puff I gave her. I don't think she likes 'stuff' on her hands at first until she figures out it's washable.
I can't figure out if I like the color or the black and white version better. I shot in two formats (RAW and Jpg) for those who understand, and so the tone is off on color on some. I love shooting RAW, don't know what possessed me to play stupid with the auto mode.


On the bw, the background is Bohemian Retrodiva paper from digital scrapbooking. I'm a fiend when it comes to that stuff and need to use it more. So this was an attempt.

Getting ready for her birthday!

I've been photographing little miss c. since she was a newborn. It's fun to watch these kiddos grow up and take on a personality. She kept her mom running today while we did the outdoor portion of the session. Most of the indoor images you see here I got while her mom was outside. Kids will connect better with the photographer, I've found, when mom isn't in the studio. It's actually funny. Her mom's reaction was "how did you get her to mind?" That's because I make it like a game. And at 2, 3 or 4, the kids instantly 'get it' that they are the center of attention.

Washtub cutie!

Only a cutie pie like little miss here could make a rustic wooden tub look like a bath fit for a princess!
