Hello Yellow Happy | Oklahoma Photographer

Sitting here listening to Jason Aldean (for all of you who knew me 'before country', don't fall off your seat!) I've listened to country for years and I could give my husband credit, but really it was when I met a young girl who was all of 12 years old, about the same age of my youngest son.

Now this girl is grown up, married and has quite a bit of pasture behind and ahead of her to tread. Katrina Elam gets most of the credit for converting me to credit. Her enthusiasm for music is fantastic.

Then again, I'd be a bad daughter/sister if I didn't mention my mother and sister. When I was little, country was big in our house, but I didn't listen to it much. It was my mom's thing and she knew many of the artists back then and I don't mean just on the radio. That's a story for another time. As for Katrina, last I heard she was working on a movie, Pure Country Gift....haven't heard anything about it since last November. I'm sure it will be wonderful. go Google it for the 411.

Back to my morning though. I'm checking my tweets, facebook and such and discover Reed Timmer's update on weather for southwest Oklahoma..severe for tomorrow..whoohoo, why though on a Monday when I'll be stuck at work?! I love to go photograph the landscape and skies --storm chaser...ha.

Of course, being that I'm barely caffeinated I'm just looking at flickr textures and decided to play with some of my old photos that were neglected. Figured 'Hello Yellow Happy' would be a good one to start this Sunday and since it's gray outside it should perk up the day.

American Idol's Final 3 show

Oh wow! Just how do you vote!?!!! Adam's awesome, but Kris and Danny got my votes. When Kris walked out on the stage to do KW's Heartless, I was tickled, but saw the guitar and thought, hummm....but he just blew me away. Fabulous! Danny, well, always a fan from the very first day. My husband has always been a Kris fan and I really wondered if he'd hang on this long. So glad he did! My husband and I talked about why we went with these two as our final choice this year. It boils down to this. Adam has always been great. But we haven't seen a lot of growth. I mean, he's already at his peak for the moment. He's just superb and a fantastic performer. Ranks right up there with many. His vocals are dynamic. No matter what happens, he's a star. I wasn't overjoyed with his performance of U2's song. It was good. I've also decided that the music almost overwhelms his vocals and I just don't care for his backup singers. It's like they are trying to over sing him.
As for Kris, wow, he just amazed me tonight. And Randy Jackson giving him such high praise on the second performance was right on.
At one point, we were talking of Kara. She always seems so negative and her face indicated that, but then she praised Kris and surprised both me and my husband. I loved the fact that Simon took her to task for her comments on Kris' first performance.
Of course, I'm saving my very favorite to talk about last. Danny just showed that he is definitely an American Idol with his performance of "You Are So Beautiful"..nothing over the top, just pure at the top, in the stars, whatever.
I am so glad that AI returned this year. Hope it keeps coming back. Can't wait to see tomorrow's show. Oh and have you noticed that Paula seems to be more in tune with what is going on, compared to last year?!!
And being an Oklahoma resident, I of course, must mention Carrie Underwood. That was a nice bit on her trip to Africa. It's nice to see that these stars do give back, even if it appears to be publicity related. It is inspiring all the same. I believe she was genuine in her visit there.

Kenny Chesney made me cry

I planned to call this post "Photographer's Choice - Voted!" at CMT.com for the upcoming fan video of the year awards that will be April 14. I almost didn't watch the Kenny Chesney video as I am just OK with his music. Yes, he's got some wonderful songs, but to sit and watch... anyway, I was really trying to make my votes based on these choices: like-able factor, creativity and photography of video (did you doubt?!), the lyrics and of course the music. I had marked Leanne Rimes 'Nothin' But Trouble' for Video of the Year. Carrie's 'Wasted' ran a close second on my score card. I watched KC's video the very last and almost ignored it. He made me cry. I got to thinking about my mom and how she lived to 92. I thought about my recent birthday '46' and how now I have grandkids and so many other things. Really puts the whole thing into perspective. Kinda scary too!

But let's back up to right after I watched Carrie's Wasted. Then I started watching a lot of the videos that I had not had a chance to watch this year. I fell in love with Keith Urban's 'I told you so" everything about this is great. The music, lyrics, the video photography, wow...and of course, Urban! So he got my Male video of year vote. Miranda Lambert's Famous in a Small Town won my vote on Best Female voy. Have loved it from day one.
Remember, photographer's choice here! LOL I enjoyed watching Little Big Town 'A little more you' they really looked like they were having fun and the film showed lots of creativity.
In Duo, hands down always - Montgomery Gentry rocks. They always get my vote, always!
What do you think about that?! No, not my vote, but the video! It's hilarious and so fun to watch.
Breakthrough video - Bucky Covington's Different World; and Collaborative goes to Garth and Huey! Love that one!
I voted Trey Fanjoy for director skills. Others that got my vote surprisingly were Jason Alexander for his role in the Online video, and Willie Nelson in Gravedigger. Wow, what a video. And I am so not a Willie fan! But that video is awesome.
