Blast of Color | Oklahoma Photographer

I already shared this on my personal facebook page, but wanted to share it with my blog readers, which is actually better, since it displays larger! I think I may even put this on my etsy page in case anyone wants to buy a copy. I also have some other things that will go up on etsy this week sometime, like the Hope and Dream candy hearts that can be seen in an earlier blog post. If you ever see one of my art images that you would like in a certain size or as a set of blank greeting cards, let me know and we can work that sale out.

Barn in paradise

I shot this a few years ago and am anxious to go back. It's in NW Arkansas and such an idyllic setting. I will be putting it in my etsy shop, it's 8x10.

Etsy gets noticed by NG

I get the National Geographic newsletter and was skimming quickly over the June 11 one last night and saw a sidebar on support the arts. There Etsy was mentioned! If you haven't heard of etsy by now, you are definitely too sheltered. It's been in top magazines, Martha Stewart and more. Etsy is definitely the place to go when shopping for something that has been created with a lot of love, time and passion.

I even had one of my carnival prints purchased in a 20x30 by someone who is on Pennsylvannia Ave. No, not the president, though one can always hope and dream, right?!

Also, as a member of the POE, Photographers of Etsy street team, I enjoy reading the blog and seeing the latest news of fellow artisan photographers. In fact, a movie that is coming out has "props" in it that were purchased on etsy...from a photographer! The photographer is Maleah Matthews of urbandesign and her photos are going to be "The Rooommate."

Ah-hoy Mateys! A contest!

Only friendly pirates abound on these here waters. So, you're thinking, what the heck is she drinking tonight?! Nothing.

I did this last night after reading a few more chapters in The Judas Strain, which does have pirates in it. I shot this photo in 2006 and just let it sit in my files. Last night as I was going through the photos from my trip to Florida, I saw this and thought, well why haven't I ever textured and artsy-phartsied this up?!
I shot this on a 'drive by' as my sister and I were rambling about. I think it was a putt putt golf course.
It's going in my etsy shop and will be available for sale there in a few days.
Now for the contest portion. If you want an 8x8 of this image, you have to follow two steps. One is visit etsy and then come back here and share a comment about your favorite photographer you found over there. It can't be me, that's rule 1.
The second part is to get one of your blog followers to come and post a comment if they enjoy my blog. They have to be a new blog follower. That's it!
I will put the names in a treasure chest and let little Miss MM draw out the winner this weekend. (I better get my video camera working, so I can record it for the blog!)

Plodding Along

Kind of appropriate title considering it feels like I'm trodding instead of galloping as I continue to upload images in my shopping cart gallery (http://tphotos.smugmug.com) Just click the purple dewy flower at right and you will end up at the online site. I originally titled it Trodding Along, which isn't far off, but Plodding was the better choice of words for describing my progress.



I am putting a few specialty items in my etsy shop, but the main online shop is at the smug site. The difference is that if you order from my smug site, the prints or merchandise is shipped directly to you from the lab. Less waiting time and more options in sizes and finishes. So if you want a huge gallery sized piece, go there. I have more than just western and cowboy images for sale, too.

Limes & Rum

If I felt better, I'd probably be drinking this today. As it is, it's sprite, not starbucks for me and I'm in and out of bed today. my entire body aches, my throat is sore and the list goes on. I can't stand to just stay in bed all day and would really rather be at work suffering, but I fear I may be contagious as three other family members are also sick.
anyway, here's a few of limes and rum drink with mint leaves that I made a week ago. I added texture as I'm known to do and really like the first one which is going in my etsy shop.

I buy photography, do you?

If you come here often enough, you probably have figured out that I have a little etsy shop where I sell photography, enlargements, etc...adding notecards back in very soon. I also have a Web site where you can find some of my fine art and western work, of course, also for sale.
And I also like to buy photography and do quite a few trades. It's not often that I buy other photos online, but can claim a few the most recent being Tea & Brie Photography on etsy, (I'll post links on the side in a bit). I found a beautiful set of notecards through flickr and then hopped over to her shop and quickly grabbed them up. They arrived Friday in the mail and are ever so lovely! Thanks Meg!
She's always adding new items and you won't be disappointed with what you find in her shop.
I've also bought from Friendly Made, again, found in both places...fun quirky 5x5 TTV images of lost America, you know, road signs, old Tastee Freeze signs fast fading, that kind of stuff.
Bueller is another one of my very favorite photographers, again 5x5 TTVs, California, the beaches, lovely. If you really want an art piece, she offers them in huge sizes a 20x20 framed gallery print for just $150 is quite a steal! Gorgeous!
Capture Cape May has great beach photos and little ACEOs!

Vintage spools in a treasury!

I think it's been awhile since one of my images made it into a treasury, so this made my day!

Mom would have liked this

I've always found Bethsbagz items in her etsy shop to be adorable.

I looked at it this morning and saw this little pincushion and thought of my mom. She loved to sew and was extremely good at it. When my sister was a teenager and I was just a toddler, she made identical dresses for us and I had over 400 in my closet. I don't have my scanner hooked up or I would add one of those photos of my sister and I. My mom also had a Boxer dog named Cindy at that time too. So seeing this pincushion was fun and brought back memories. If she was still alive, that's what I would get her for Mother's Day.
On another thought, not related to that, but to Mother's Day. I was sitting at work yesterday when our publisher rounded the corner with a bunch of long stemmed red roses in his hand and one pulled out and a coworker sang out my name. Now how bad is this? Instead of thinking oh how sweet, because he really is a nice guy, I think, ok, it's not my birthday, where's the pink slip?! Hah! He actually gave all the mom's roses at work. That was a first for me -- the big boss giving out flowers. Now the last publisher was also thoughtful. At Christmas, he'd give us gift cards to the local video/bookstore.
Well, that's it for the moment. It's rainy here in southern Oklahoma and I'm trying to decide to go to Lawton for the day or just stay home and play on the computer. If I go, I know I'll end up spending money..ummmmm hahah
Meanwhile go visit Bethsbagz ... oh wait, I can stay home and shop online....ha!

New in my etsy shop!

This is the view from Monument Hill, that shadow falling across the ground is actually the monument and it is huge! I love this place. The history of this spot is rich with cowboy and cattle. This is one of the reasons I love Oklahoma. There is so much history here to explore.
I've added this image to my etsy shop. This image is also one of those I'm debating on getting as a large canvas for my home...20x30 probably.
I shot this photo after attending a fine arts festival in which I won first place in the professional division. My husband and I stopped here and enjoyed a little bit of time taking in the beauty of the land. I had been there many times to cover various tours when I was editor of the newspaper down there in Waurika, but it was the first time my husband had been.

Carnival "Into Blue"

It's been a long time since I added any of my Carnival images. Probably my most popular images to date. I think the Transformers soundtrack kicked in my creative drive because without thinking I went straight to my midway archives and created several new images. These will be available in my etsy shop. I had a couple printed as 20x30s and wow, they were awesome!

Now for the real post!
Since I'm way too tired this early a.m. to dig up a photo to post, I'm sitting here surfing one of my favorite online places - no not ebay! Ruby Lane! First I found a very cool cat brooch, not posting it since I may still buy it! But then I found this: www.rubylane.com/shops/buttercups/item/291.
It's a Battlefields of Gettysburg set of vintage photographs with a small box they fit in. It says the price is $35 which isn't bad for souvenir photos of our nation's historical land. Imagine crafting a story to go along with the images? Would be great for an art series or altered journal. this particular shop also has other items, particularly nice are her vintage books and vintage children's books for sale.

And you can always stop by my new etsy shop if you are in the mood! Well it isn't new but I am just now listing items. It's mostly to sell my fine art photographs, blank notecards. But I've also got some vintage finds listed.
