Green Smoothie Goodness - Oklahoma photographer, foodie and writer

Today was a Homemade Smoothie kind of day.
Not just any smoothie, but a healthy, green goodness smoothie.
Several of my friends have been doing the smoothie. I thought, why not. I like buying Bolthouse farms, the green goodness..have for a few years, but they are pricey at $2.29 or more a bottle. I refuse to think I pay more than that for one. Plus they are filled with sugar. Not really a good thing.
So after a quick shopping spree, I was ready.
Here's a quick peek at it right after I finished blending.
So here's what I tossed into it:
Half a banana, half a plantain, half an orange (mineola), half an apple, seed included, half a pear, 3 strawberries (cut the ends off!), a big handful of fresh baby spinach leaves, a chunk of fresh pineapple and about 3/4 cup of vanilla almond milk. Hit the liquefy button on your blender and the longer you blend it, the greener it gets.
It takes delicious and I had tons of energy today. I didn't feel sluggish at all.
You can toss in some blueberries or kiwi, protein powder or use frozen fruit too. One of my friends is adding the NingxiaRed, an ounce daily to it.
Play around until you get one you like. You can also add a teaspoon of safflower oil which I plan to do this next time I make one. I am going to make this my lunch each day.
Here's one more photo .... get on the green smoothie merry go round!
