The white rose

This is one of the roses my husband gave me for Valentine's Day. I shot it using natural lighting - a southern window. I'll post more of the images later. I started out testing a piece of white foam craft around my external flash, before I did this image. I'll post the test shots too. Interesting. I really liked the effect gained using the foam instead of a white index card.

Railroad fun!

This was from a November session. This was the only time so far I've gotten to take A's photo. She's a beauty, but she lives in NE OK, and doesn't get down here often to visit her grandmother, who I work with. For the photo critics out there, the original image is not overexposed! I intentionally lightened this and played around to get this color tone. I know her grandmother is going to flip and love this one! I've developed a reputation for my colorful images, but am getting a lot of requests for more subdued image tones. Hey, I can do that too! In fact, in a few weeks, those in my immediate area will be able to see a bunch of images on display at a long-established jewelry store. Those images will definitely be different from what you're used to seeing, but I think they will be as gorgeous if not more so than my colorful kids images.
I'll reveal the store in two weeks, maybe sooner! It's already a done deal. The subdued toned images will be at that location exclusively.

Little doll Valentine!

I love photographing little K. She's such a doll and growing so fast! I'm already thinking about her spring sessions for March and April. She's discovered her hands and though her mother, father and I tried to keep her attention diverted, she still snuck them into her mouth! It was so cute.
Here's the same photo above but with more color. I always try to give parents a few options. Some like less coloring, some love it richly saturated.
How cute is this one!
In this one above, her daddy was off to my right and he sure captured her attention.
And after listening to her mom sing one of my favorites, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, I think we were all ready for a nap. Her mother has such a sweet voice. I put a vintage wash on this one. I love the pink tinge to it and have named it Vintage Girl.

I had another session planned today but L's grandma called and said he was sick. We're going to do it another day and I can't wait to show those off. It will be his first birthday and those sessions are always super fun!

YUMMY! Chocolates, fonts and "Open Season"

And it really was! Especially with some light, fluffy milk chocolate frosting. It had been months and months since I made brownies and I bought two boxes of the Ghirardelli brownie mix because I knew my family would not be satisfied with just one. Let me tell you, what a great mix! I usually bake from scratch, but these were too YUMMY to pass up. Anything from the San Francisco company is going into my cart. Sorry Hersheys!
Anyway, I got home and poured them into a bowl then realized I only had 1/3 cup of oil. I needed double! Ack! So finally today I got my oil, some walnuts and then whipped this out. And wouldn't you know it, the boys were out for the evening and my husband had a relapse with his respiratory infection and has been in bed all day. It was just me and my brother enjoying a brownie (believe me, one was plenty!) Talk about YUMMY! Moist, thick, just like a brownie should be. Oh, and a tall glass of milk in my POM juice glass. Those glasses are awesome. Reminds me of the jelly glasses we use to drink out of when we were kids.
And if you haven't seen Open Season, go rent it! It's so fun!
I know it's not the best photo, but I was testing out something with my 50 mm 1.8 lens, no flash, 800 ISO. Background is scrapbook paper and the china saucer is one I picked up ages ago for about 39 cents at a thrift shop.
Oh, and in case you're wondering -- the YUMMY font is fontdinerdotcom loungy. It's a free one you can find online.

Brides to be who called me!

Please call me back! I called the numbers I had for you all and there were about four of you. None of the numbers I called knew who I asked for...
I didn't forget you, just can't get in touch with you again unless you call me!

Valentine Special!

This one above is my favorite. I love the subtle skin tones combined with the vintage harlequin pattern. It would be lovely as a large canvas!
I'm really partial to these also. Kind of a mocha chocolate vintage look.

And since Valentine's Day is nearing, I had to make one pink and red!
Now, I'm booking up for Valentine's Day specials for the 8, 9 and 10th. Thursday is almost filled. My Valentine's LE specials are extremely affordable and you might be surprised even! My specials are mostly for little kids, one or two children. Just contact me for details. You can find my phone number on my web site with the click at the right. Or just email me!
